A giudicare da un articolo di bicycling.com, sembra che le ruote di medio formato abbiano un futuro.
Al momento l’unico dato che abbiamo è questa foto. Può darsi quindi che RockShox produrrà per il 2013 forcelle anche per lo standard 650B, o 27.5″ che dir si voglia. La casa statunitense ha commentato: “There’s definitely been an increase in interest and discussion over the 650B wheel size. At RockShox, we’re always exploring the possibilities of any new standard or technology, wheel size included. We’re not ready to reveal our 2013 line at this time, but whether or not there’s a 650B offering, you can be assured that we’ve taken the wheel size into consideration.”
Vale a dire che non intendono ignorare il formato 650B. Secondo bycicling però per questo standard arriveranno forcelle anche da Fox, DT Swiss ed X-Fusion; copertoni da WTB e Schwalbe e parecchi altri componenti. Insomma pare che ci sia parecchio fermento intorno al 650B, anche se in gran parte è tenuto nascosto. A differenza del caso 29″, sembra che per le 650B sia maggiore la paura delle aziende di “restare indietro”. Difficile però aspettarsi molto per il 2013, mentre un decollo potrebbe verificarsi l’anno successivo.
P.S.: un attento lettore di bikerumor ha anche notato tra le specifiche della forcella un “15×110 Maxle Lite”. Nuovo standard o errore di battitura? Ricordiamo infatti che al momento i perni passanti esistono nelle misure 20 x 110mm e 15 x 100mm.
