[First Look] Öhlins RXF 34 Fork

[ad3]

For the past couple of years, Specialized and Öhlins have been working hand in hand to develop shock tunes specifically for their Demo and Enduro bikes. It looks like their relationship has expanded and is inching towards the front of the bike. Enter the RXF 34 fork. We are one of, if not the first media outlet to get our hands on this new offering from Öhlins in the USA. The version we have is a 120mm travel, 29″ wheeled offering with a 46mm offset. We’re bolting it up at the moment for some long term testing but for now we wanted to bring you a preview and discuss it’s features and finer points; some of which are industry firsts.

Hey there…

Details

• 120, 140, 160mm options for 29” in 15x100mm spacing

• High/low speed compression & rebound adjustments along with adjustable air spring.

• Twin Tube(Recirculating) Design

• $1,150 MSRP

• 46mm offset

• 4.5 pounds (actual weight with uncut steerer)

• Available “soon”

Single side pinch bolt. Keep it simple.
Gold.
Industry first – FSA headset bearings drop right onto the crown/steerer. No bottom race necessary. Brilliant and most likely very quiet.
Note : that says Öhlins, these are NOT Enduro brand seals.
Broad and beefy arch.
A closeup of the relief under the one piece crown/steerer.
Tuning chart… the RXF 34 features not one, but two positive air springs and one negative air spring. On the right is the valve for the second positive air spring that manages the bottom out.
We don’t have any documentation on it, but we believe those three threaded holes are to accept a fender. Sleek either way.
Five clicks of high speed compression via the black lever act as a lockout for climbing and 26 clicks of low speed compression via the blue knob handle the forks attitude in terms of resisting dive and sitting up in the travel.

We’ll keep you updated on how it works over the coming months.  Stay tuned.
