Kali Protectives have focused on using technology and advanced looks as the base of their protective offerings for the last few years. Some of these technologies are expensive and found in high end products, other ideas filter down to lower end products. With this in mind Kali have focused on creating a range of helmets that suit Enduro riding at the lower end of the cost scale without sacrificing safety.

On the Trail
We tried the Kali Chakra in and around our test location of Punta Ala. Our initial impressions were positive, especially considering the price ratio it is aimed at. The back is low enough to give a protective feel and at the same time not feel hot. Although the strap system is simple it is effective and easy to adjust. There is no direct mounting patch for a onboard camera so a strap must be used, obviously at this price range features like this are omitted. The air flow through the helmet was good with our head even after long climbs still feeling comfortable temperature wise, no, “I need to scratch feelings…” We tried the helmet mainly without goggles or glasses, although we know that goggles will fit fine as there is a notch on the back of the helmet that will stabilise the goggle strap. Glasses also fit well enough around the sides.
Conclusion
Honestly you cant really go wrong with the Kali Chakra Plus. It is an incredibly good looking, comfortable helmet that meets the safety standards of the EN standard and at the sametime does inspire confidence. It is comfortable to ride with for long hot climbs and is light weight on the head. When it comes to price helmets at this level will obviously be missing features that are found on the +€100 helmets, however we did not really find anything lacking apart from it being marginally harder to attach a video camera and the strap system is not as tune-able as their top end offerings.. Therefore we can only praise how good value this helmet is for the price. Kali have achieved what they set out to do, a good looking, protective, excellent value helmet for riders that don’t need extra features or are on a budget.
