Today – amongst other things, Specialized finally unveiled their latest flagship trail bike offering. The Morgan Hill, California based brand showed off a fully revamped Stumpjumper in both 27.5″ and 29″ wheels boasting a ton of new features.
The 27.5″ Stumpjumper features 150mm of travel, an ultra low 335mm BB, 67 degree head angle and super short 420mm chainstays. Retail is $8600 USD and 25.8lbs for a size Medium
The 29″ Stumpjumper features 135mm of travel, an 336mm BB, 67.5 degree head angle and freakishly short 437mm chainstays. Retail is $8900 USD and 26.7lbs for a size Large.
Aside from being reworked from the ground up, perhaps the most striking feature on the bike is it’s new SWAT downtube. It’s shown here with it’s latch undone.
Once the latch is undone, it’s removable. One can utilize it with or without the bottlecage, and the new Stumpy clears a full size waterbottle. The bike comes with two tool rolls and can fit a surprising amount of bits nice and low in the bike. Additionally, the internal cable routing features full length housing guides built into the downtube to keep things quiet and easy to work on. A bulkhead keeps things from dropping too far down into the BB area.
More SWAT! The upper shock mount features an attachment point for the provided SWAT tool. Additionally, the big S has propriety custom tunes for the Stumpy. No A,B,or C stuff here.
Chain tool and an extra link worked into the steerer tube are also provided.

The super short stays are somewhat possible in part because of the lack of the seat stay bridge. The bike gains some added stiffness from the wide attachment points on the linkage.
Super clean cable routing.
Expect to see this sticker on Pivots and Ibis bikes. Specialized pioneered this unique way of attaching the rear shock’s lower link. Brand who license the design with be sporting this sticker.
Geometry is listed above. The Stumpjumper is available in both wheel sizes at 5 different spec levels.
The new Rhyme is the latest trail bike offering from Specialized. The bike’s frame is no different than a Stumpy, but is offered in a size extra small. A small Rhyme is the same size as a small Stumpjumper but they make the adaptations for women with things like 165mm cranks and a shorter stem as well as a host of other changes.
Also new from Specialized are the new Stumpjumper and Rhyme 6Fattie – a 27.5″+ take on the new model. Shown here is the Rhyme version.
The 6Fattie model still features the rad little trap door.
It does feature bigger tires. 27.5″ X 3″ to be precise.
Along with that comes wider stays and more clearance.
A Fox 32 27.5″+ fork up from to boot.
No room for 2X on this model as it’s a bit wider near the BB area.
Boost 148 and 110mm hubs round everything out.
The bike uses standard 30mm wide Roval wheels but for those looking for more width and a different feel (with some added weight) a 38mm rim will be available.
