Announcing the Kona International Rookie Games – from the 6th to the 9th of August in
Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis.
The bike park at Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis will again be hosting the Kona International Rookie Games from the 6th to the 9th of August 2015, where the spotlight is on the youngest talents in European mountain biking. The youth orientated event is unique in Europe, and one where very talented youngsters have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a relaxed atmosphere in Downhill, Slopestyle, Pumptrack and Dual Slalom disciplines. The Kona International Rookie Games are totally dedicated to the promotion of new talent in the symbiotic ‘riding – gravity’ worlds. With the Ladies Camp and the Family Challenge, biking parents will get a chance to get both their riding fix and ride alongside the younger generation.
It’s all set to be a biking retreat for the whole family and a relaxed racing atmosphere for young talent. Following a successful premier last year, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and the riding community are excited to continue this amazing event; the invitation again goes out to young talented bikers and their families to attend Europe’s one and only youth festival in Tirol’s biggest bike park. A place where, for one week, the focus shifts to the future of riding disciplines, and the world champions of tomorrow.
Learn from the Pros – This is the motto of the ‘Rookie Training Days’ from the 3rd to the 9th of August, again this year, a part of the MTB Festival Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. Young riders will have not only the opportunity to refine their riding technique under professional guidance in an exclusive training camp, but they will also learn the ins and outs of racing and prepare themselves for the closing racing weekend.
The festival will feature Downhill, Slopestyle, Pumptrack and Dual Slalom from the 6th to the 9th of August where the most talented up-and-comers will be recognised. The programme features the ‘iXS Rookies Cup’ as well as the FMB Bronze Event ‘O’Neal Rookie of the Year Slopestyle’, the ‘Pumptrack Challenge’ and new to this year, the ‘Dual Slalom race’. Looking to set the unofficial, official, downhill masters in the U17, U15 and U13 classes the second iXS International Rookies Championships will be the determining event for the sport’s next generation.
Not to be forgotten! A big part of the week’s line-up at Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is also geared towards the teachers/coaches/inspirations – the parents. For the women and mothers, between the 31st of July and the 2nd of August, the women will shine while refining their technique in the bike park at the Ladies camp with Steffi Teltscher. Finally, adding to the action packed weekend, the mothers and the fathers will battle together with their children on the same team for the best time at the Family Challenge.
