It’s been a rough year for the Pierron family’s DH champions, after Amaury‘s injury at the end of June, last Sunday his older brother Baptiste was the victim of a serious injury during the final round of the Aura Cup in Le Lioran, France.
In the frightening crash Baptiste hit a large boulder with his back, fracturing four vertebrae, two of which were quite serious. Fortunately, his spinal cord was not damaged.
Baptiste’s statements on his Instagram account, where you can see the video of the fall from another perspective than the video above. Translated: “You can stand so high and go so low, you can realize your dream one day and lose all the next day, our sport can be so cruel, everything changed in seconds, months of work, sacrifice, suffering… The fall brings it all with it. I have been lying on my hospital bed since Sunday evening, I can no longer to get up, I hit my back, the D8 and D12 vertebrae are the most fractured, I have to operate during the week, but the wait is endless… I would have liked to continue the season, my sensations on the bike were incredible and I love spending the time with my team… Thank you all for your messages, you warm my heart. I will keep you quickly informed.”
From the MTB-Mag staff we’re wishing for a quick and complete recovery to Baptiste and a little serenity to the Pierron family who is facing a truly difficult time.
