[Bike Check] Geoff Kabush’s Scott Genius 700

When Geoff Kabush isn’t out smashing it in the XC races, his go to bike is his 150mm travel Scott Genius Premium 700. According to Geoff, if he could only pick one bike, this would be “the one”. We recently got to catch up with him – well, not literally anyway – for a couple of laps in Northern California this week. We’ll have an action gallery up in a few days, but for now, here is his bike check.

Hovering right around 25 lbs Geoff’s Genius is pretty close to stock. An interesting feature is the 150mm custom Fox 32. Typically to get 150mm with a 27.5 wheel you need to jump up to a 34 or 36 chassis. Fox helped Scott with this custom spec.

Here are all the angles. The bike errs a bit on the conservative side so Geoff runs his size XL in the Low/Slack setting.

We had to snap a pic of the bike by the most cliche place to take selfies, group pics and bike shots in all of Santa Cruz.

A busy cockpit, but it keeps things running efficiently. We heard some musings of the possibility of some electronic lockouts which may find their way onto Geoff’s bike in the near future.

All those cables tie in to here. On the fly lockouts front and rear turn Geoff’s Genius 700 into a super efficient climbing machine with the flick of a switch.

Ardent up front and an Ikon out back. 3C and EXO…the best way to go.

The carbon Syncros stem is pretty stealth looking and helps keep the weight down.

Full 2015 XTR drivetrain.

Fox Levers and XTR brake/shift levers seem to mate up nicely.

Carbon Fiber railed Syncros saddle. Parts like this help contribute to the Sub 25 lb weight WITH tubes. Pretty darn light for a 150mm bike.

XTR stoppers. Tried and true.

Clean cable routings.

Custom 150mm Fox 32.

Crank Brothers Candy 11. BALLER.

Last but not least, Geoff ripping some beautiful trails 1/4 mile from the Pacific Ocean. Action gallery to follow.
