[Bike Check] Julien Absalon’s BMC Four Stroke

[ad3]

Julien Absalon has a few bikes ready to choose from at the World Cup in Val di Sole, we checked out his full suspension rig which is ready to go racing. Julien has two options, currently this is the most likely ride he will be using, his Full Suspension Four Stroke, he also has the possibility of using his soft tail. He will decide later today after a practice ride.

Absalon’s BMC full suspension XC bike, 9.9 kilos, with light weight tyre option.

There is no doubt about who Absalon is.

That is 30 wins so far in his career. More than any other rider.

XTR brakes front and rear.

XTR pedals, set with a medium spring tension.

A flat saddle angle.

Absalons saddle height adjustment.

The bite point on Julien’s brakes is here.

XTR hubs, notice the Fox upgraded front axle.

Race King tyres, currently his choice, they might be changed before the race starts.

Grip in Val di Sole will change if the weather changes. For now, fast rolling is best.

Centre lock hubs and discs.

Fox’s Electronic suspension lock out is all over this bike.

Running the suspension and gear shifting off the same set up.

No right shifter here, only the lock out control.

Julien is not using a zero rise stem, well into positive territory.

Fox lock out control up close. Easy access to the return speed adjustment.

Julien is going Enduro… with a chain guide and single ring up front.

40 tooth rear 11 speed sprocket set.

XTR electronic shifting set-up for 11 speed, unfortunately Julien’s mechanic would not divulge the speed settings.
