The Santa Cruz Syndicate is heavily supporting 29″ DH bikes at Lourdes. With Loris Vergier and Greg Minnaar in First and Third respectively in Qualifying today, the new wheel size is looking quite promising…
Riding either a Medium or Large at 175cm high, Loris’ bike:wheel size ratio looks noticeably more disproportionate than Minnaar’s XXL. Therefore, the saddle positioning is immediately apparent to the eye. The extremely lax seat angle of the V10 has many users of this bike, especially if not particularly tall, to move the saddle completely forward. This has us wondering about angles for production on “smaller” sizes. Minnaar however, on his XXL, Mounts the saddle in a regular position.
After a couple of podiums last year, Loris cruises into 2017 with the #7 plate.
Details on the upper linkage. It’s looking far from stock.
Carbon ENVE DM stem and handlebar with a custom Chris King BuzzWorks headset to get the reach and head angle just right.
Traditional IS brake mount and a customized 7 speed Saint drivetrain.
Notice something different on that asymmetrical rear end? The vertical upright has been removed on the drive side to make room for the 29″ wheel.
Full Saint, ENVE bar and Lizard Skin grips.
Currently Maxxis is making Minion DHR II 2.40 for the Syndicate’s oversized 29″ wheels.
The new FOX 49 is 20X110 Boost but the Chris King hub however, is not. Hence the orange 5mm spacer at the brake rotor.
Better viewpoints of the asymmetrical rear end.
