Call it “downcountry” if you prefer or simply a trail bike, the new Sign from the Swiss brand BiXS is a 29″ MTB with 120mm of travel at the rear and 130mm of travel up front that offers a very refined frame, modern geometry and a flagship set-up, called X, at an attractive price.
The suspension system is an indirect single pivot, with joints well hidden by the shapes of the frame itself for a very refined design. On the Sign X the 120mm of travel is managed by a Fox Float DPS Evol shock absorber with a remote control on the handlebar for lockout, combined with a Fox 34 Float Factory fork with a Grip2 hydraulic cartridge.
The linkage that compresses the shock absorber is made of aluminum but is still perfectly integrated into the frame design. The vertical position of the shock allows plenty of space for the bottle cage. The frame is equipped with rubber protection both under the down tube and on the chain guard.
The X set-up focuses on the top of the line offerings from each brand involved in the project with DT Swiss XMC1501 wheels, Shimano XTR brakes, RaceFace Next Carbon 35 handlebar, RockShox Reverb dropper post and SRAM XX1 drivetrain, both in AXS version.
Four sizes are available, from 15″ to 21″. The BiXS request for the Sign X is 8,590 Swiss Francs while the cheaper fittings of the Sign series range from 3,990 to 4,990 Francs.
