Cannondale Scalpel SE LTD Featuring the 120mm Lefty Ocho

Cannondale today has unveiled the new LTD setup of the Scalpel SE, the “vitaminized” version of the Scalpel, with 120mm of travel for both front and rear suspension, presented last May at the launch of the new Scalpel.

But the real novelty, as the title of this article reveals, is the new Lefty Ocho Carbon with 120mm of travel that the Cannondale “downcountry” bike is equipped with. The fork that characterizes the top-of-the-line versions of the Scalpel is now also the beating heart of the new top trim level of the Scalpel SE.

The new version with increased travel has been subject to several changes compared to the standard XC version, to conform it to the new, more aggressive use. The sleeve / steerer assembly has a 50mm offset, is also made of carbon but more rigid and robust, with greater material, as is the stanchion, which also provides for a different sizing and positioning of the air chamber inside. The overall weight of the Lefty Ocho Carbon 120 is 1,550 grams.

Adjustments include air pressure, rebound and low speed compression. You can choose between the options of a two-position lock-out lever on the fork or with a remote handlebar control, compatible with both Fox and RockShox controls.

The new 120mm Lefty Ocho is sold with a new specific 180mm StopLock disc mount, on which it is also possible to even mount 200mm discs with a special adapter. The fork is however compatible with the standard 160mm StopLock stem available as an option.

The new LTD equipment of the Scalpel SE tips the scale at 11.2kg and is on sale at a price of € 8,399 with immediate availability. The new Lefty Ocho Carbon 120 will also be available in the aftermarket for € 1,559, starting in mid-July.
