Canyon Lux Goes Downcountry – The New Lux Trail

A fork offering more travel, a dropper post, wider tires and handlebars, longer and slacker geometry: Canyon beefs up its XC full suspension bike – the Lux – and makes it more interesting even outside of racing. 120mm travel at the front, 110mm at the rear.

The carbon frame in size M weighs 1905 grams according to the German brand, despite having the same strength as a category 3 bike, such as the Neuron. The low weight was achieved also thanks to the flex stays, just like in the racing model. This combines well with a low leverage ratio, which in turn allows you to ride with an inflated shock at relatively low pressures.

Speaking of the suspension system, Canyon also uses the thriple-phase system on the Lux Trail, which promises sensitivity to small bumps, stability in the middle of the stroke and progressiveness at the end of the stroke.

The components are brawnier than the pure XC Lux, with a 760mm wide handlebar, a 125mm travel dropper post, 30mm internal diameter rims, 2.35 “-2.4” tires and a fork with wider stanchions like the Fox 34 SC or the Rock Shox SID 35mm.

Good news for aesthetes and mechanics alike: the internal cable routing is fully guided.

The rubber protection on the frame should keep the bike pretty quiet.

Also on the Lux Trail there is the Quixle, making it easy to remove the rear axle quickly thanks to the retractable lever.

To prevent the chain from being sucked into the frame, Canyon has created a minimalist chain guide.

A Lux Trail is coming, stay tuned for the test!
