Crankbrothers Partners with Top Athletes To Support Bike-Related Causes Worldwide
Laguna Beach, CA (July 7, 2015)
In partnership with top athletes, crankbrothers has launched the Crankbrothers for Others charitable giveback initiative to support bike-related causes around the world.
“Giving back has always been an important part of our business practices,” said Kellen Trachy, Global Marketing Manager, crankbrothers. “We’ve enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Hans Rey and his Wheels 4 Life charity, and our experience working with him is the inspiration behind this initiative. Crankbrothers for Others takes this spirit of giving back to a whole new level by partnering with more than 25 of our top athletes to support a variety of charities worldwide.”
Participating athletes span the disciplines of downhill, enduro, cross country, and cyclocross, and include racers Greg Minnaar, Steve Peat, Danny Hart, Steve Smith, Loic Bruni, Brook Macdonald, Emmeline Ragot, Bryn Atkinson, Jill Kintner Iago Garay, George Brannigan, Laurie Greenland, Greg Williamson, Curtis Keene, Anneke Beerten, Cedric Gracia, Adam Craig, Carl Decker, Jeremy Powers, Rebecca Rusch, Chloe Woodruff, the Bianchi XC Team, and the Topeak-Ergon EU and US XC Marathon teams.
Athletes show their support by wearing the crankbrothers temporary tattoo at races and using the hashtag #cb4others to help raise funds and awareness for the charity of their choice. For each race, crankbrothers makes a donation to the charity on the their behalf, and also partners with the athletes to raise additional donations through raffles and auction items. A microsite at crankbrothers.com/for-others hosts donation pages for each athlete and charity, and provides real-time updates of the funds raised.
Charities include World Bicycle Relief, NICA, Ride For Michael, Wheels 4 Life, Prochorus Community Development, Riding Forward, JAM Fund, Team Rynkeby, Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition, and the Ride to Conquer Cancer, among others.
“Professional athletes make their living riding bikes,” said Claire Geiger, Grassroots Development Manager, World Bicycle Relief. “But for many individuals around the world, a bicycle is a life-changing tool, providing access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. The Crankbrothers for Others program gives professional athletes the perfect platform to use their voices and talent to support a cause bigger than themselves.”
“For many years I’ve connected in some way with World Bicycle Relief through my sponsors and I’ve always loved what they stand for,” said Anneke Beerten. “Now I have the opportunity to contribute myself through the Crankbrothers for Others program. It’s a
great opportunity to make a difference and help support the community that has given us
so much.”
