Crankbrothers is thrilled to announce a partnership with Crisis Text Line in an effort to bring more awareness to the mental health issues that affect millions of people globally. While the COVID-19 pandemic has provided a spotlight on how effective cycling can be as a form of therapy, there is no substitute for interpersonal connection with a trained counselor during a serious mental health crisis. Crisis Text Line’s volunteer Crisis Counselor’s help individuals experiencing a mental health crisis to transition from a hot moment to a cool calm via a free, 24/7, high-quality text-based mental health support and crisis intervention service. Once they’ve built rapport and trust, explored the issues, and established the texter’s goal, they collaboratively problem-solve to help the texter come up with a plan to stay safe and healthy.

To help further Crisis Text Line’s vision for an empathetic world where nobody feels alone, Crankbrothers has collaborated with Forbidden Bike Co, SpokeX, Cane Creek, TRP, Continental, and Fizik, to give away a one-of-a-kind trail bike showcasing some of the most premium components in the market, with all entry proceeds donated to Crisis Text Line.

Inspired by one of motorsport’s most iconic liveries (and sharing the same black-and-gold color scheme as Crankbrothers’ premium 11-level products), this one-off Forbidden Druid trail bike features custom paint by TecGnar, based on the John Player Special F1 cars once piloted by racing legends like Aryton Senna, Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell, and Jackie Ickx. Continuing the theme of auto racing and cycling’s intersection, this special bike will premiere in-person at the 2022 edition of the world’s premiere cycling festival, the Sea Otter Classic – perennially hosted at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for more than 30 years.
