Unfortunately, the 2021 UCI DH World Cup season seems to be taking the same path as the 2020 season. After the postponement of the first round in Maribor, postponed to August, the news of the cancellation of the third round of Fort William arrived today. The Scottish town that initially opted for a race without an audience, has now canceled the race as they’re unable to comply with the rules against the pandemic imposed for these kind of events. A somewhat paradoxical situation that sees an individual discipline such as DH suffer these restrictions more than other team or group sports.
The UCI has stated that it is looking for a solution to postpone the Fort William leg or alternatively to replace it with another location in order to have a full racing season, so let’s keep our fingers crossed!
