[FEST Bike Check] Makken’s Trek Session Park

[ad3]

Makken showed up a bit early to Santa Cruz for Cruz FEST

Trek painted up this super sick matte black Session Park frame with silver decals. After drooling over it for a while we asked him to do a bike check.

Custom FEST series HOPE bits. The UK brand takes good care of Makken and their beautiful parts hang nicely on his bike.

Narrow wide ring and beautifully made cranks.

V4 Brakes

Hope pulleys in his “derailleur”

When you go big, you crash big. Gotta protect the assets with metal bar caps.

Brushed metallic. Drool. SO METAL!

Close looks at the decals. So sick!

600 Pound spring on his Fox shock. Gnarly! Oh, and an acid stripped Cap.

Integrated bumpers look so goood.

A little sharpie action.

Makken is known for not running a shifter. He runs a 4 speed cassette and picks his gear with the limit screws.

That leaves this one lonely brake line coming out of his frame.

A not so pedestrian drivetrain requires and chain that’s tough as nails. Connex are known for being durable and stron.
Odyssey pivotal saddle. Light and simple.

Bontrager G5 tires. 2.5front, 2.35rear.

And the best rims on the planet. Mavic 721 rims have been going strong since the mid 1990’s and they won Rampage last year. Pretty incredible.

Tattoos and FREEdom. Sensus Grips wire tied. Makken knows what’s up.

Acid stripped adjusters on Makken’s Fox 40. Makken’s bike’s ethos is : “the absence of color.”

Cat scratch fever.

Makken has been working on his own brand lately : “Rolling Solid” 45mm rise bars will be something relatively new. He’s taking his time and doing the R&D himself. Riding in FEST series is a good indicator of how tough your parts are.

We’ll be keeping you in the loop on the first round of FEST series. Stay tuned.
