ENVE has been making what could arguably be considered the most sought after wheels in the carbon fiber MTB world. With bold graphics, insane light weight and incredible trail feel they’ve certainly paved the way as the the most high end offering out there – especially with regards to the price, which can often tip the scale near $3K complete. A few years ago, ENVE stratified their line into the M60, M70 & M90 for XC, Trail and DH use accordingly. Recently however, ENVE have jumped into the high volume wheel world with their new HV(high volume) series.

It’s getting quite difficult to deny the benefits of running wider rims these days. A better tire footprint and more traction are a start. They can be run with less pressure and are less apt to roll over and squirm. Additionally, they’re typically stronger and stiffer.
While ENVE offer a 72 hour turn around on a full custom configuration, we told them to just send us whatever they wanted. We ended up with the tried and true DT-Swiss 240 hubs with centerlock. At the moment we don’t have centerlock rotors so we snagged some 6 bolt adapters. They mount up easily enough.
28 bladed spokes per wheel laced 2 cross should result in a snappy but tough wheels. Time will tell.
Unidirectional carbon fiber. Tough stuff if it’s laid out well. Time will tell. Stay tuned here for how the wheels are treating us. We’ll be bolting them up shortly.
