[First Look] The New Trek Supercaliber

Finally we can show you the brand new Trek Supercaliber, after months which Jolanda Neff and Emily Batty raced it in XC competitions with the heart of the new suspension system cloaked, so as not to reveal it in advance. This new layout is called IsoStrut.

The project was born from the desire to create a vehicle specifically designed for XC racing, providing the lightweight efficiency of a hardtail together with the control and traction of a full suspension bike.

Isostrut

It is an air sprung rear shock absorber integrated in the frame, created in collaboration with the Fox engineers, with 60mm of travel, equipped with a complete lockout via remote mounted on the handlebar.

The IsoStrut suspension system is enclosed in a structural upright, integrated precisely into the frame, specially designed to eliminate torsional flexing, bending and deflecting movements when it is in cycling through its travel.

The remote on the handlebar is the classic Fox that also controls the closing / opening of the fork, which has 100mm of travel.

The seatstays flex, in the absence of a pivot in or around the rear axle.

The Knock Block prevents the handlebar or fork from ruining the frame in the event of rotation. Cable routing is internal.

Geometry

Even the smallest sizes have been designed to accommodate 29″ wheels only.

Specs and prices

The Supercaliber will be available in four different versions. Each is equipped with the OCLV Mountain carbon frame with a Straight Shot downtube and Knock Block steering stop, 1×12 SRAM transmission (SRAM AXS spec’d on the the flagship model of the family) and Bontrager Kovee carbon wheels with a Rapid Drive hub for practically instantaneous engagement when getting on the pedals.

Like all Bontrager carbon wheels, the Kovee MTB wheelsets are also supported by the Bontrager Carbon Care Wheel loyalty program. In the event of damage within the first two years of purchase, Bontrager will repair or replace them free of charge.

All Supercaliber models also feature 100mm front travel, 29 “wheels on all frame sizes to better carry speed. All frames also have enough space to accommodate two water bottles in the front triangle.

Supercaliber frame kit: € 3,799

Supercaliber 9.8 GX: € 5,999
