FOX Proframe: the new standard for Enduro?

[ad3]

Today, FOX Head announces a new helmet dedicated to Enduro. The result of two years of development and testing, the Proframe is now ready for public and it’s one of the lightest helmets on the market, yet somehow passed DH level certifications.

As opposed to going the route of a removable chin-bar, FOX took the approach that they could make a helmet that is lightweight and well ventilated enough that the rider could be comfortable without needing to take a chin bar off and on, etc.

Based loosely on the design of the Rampage Pro Carbon, FOX’s DH lid, the intended use of the new Proframe is mainly for Enduro racing, but it will definitely peak the interests of the bike park crowd or the shuttle guys as well. The Proframe, according to FOX, is as safe as a DH helmet but breathes as well as an open face.

The Proframe inner shell is made of EPS with patented Varizorb dual density layers that we have already seen on FOX’s Metah helmet. The con shaped structures interface with the two layers of different density EPS to help to dissipate the impact force to a much lower percentage than classic EPS. Furthermore, to minimize the risks in case of fall, the Proframe is also equipped with the well known MIPS system, which helps minimize rotational forces in the event of collisions which could cause serious damage to the brain.

The chin of the Proframe is fixed to the inside of the helmet with a patented system that creates a single, integral structure with the entire helmet, similar to a DH helmet according to the ASTM standard, but at the same time it is able to dissipate the impacts. Ventilation is one of the key features of the Proframe: 15 inbound ports for air and 9 output, specially designed to extract air and ventilate the rider’s head.

The visor of the helmet is fixed in a position which, according to FOX’s aerodynamic tests, provides the best air flow through the front, providing maximum ventilation. The closure is dubbed “Fidloc” and allows you to fasten and unfasten the helmet with extreme ease, even when wearing gloves, while still maintaining a high standard of safety.

The Proframe tips the scales at 750 grams, according to FOX. The internal pads are removable/washable and are made with material from antibacterial properties that also helps to drain sweat and avoid feeling warm and gross while in contact with the skin.

The new Proframe helmet is offered in seven colorways , and the sizes available are: S, M, L and XL.

Retail is slated to be €270.
