Mavic has two new sets of wheels dedicated to Cross Country. The Crossmax Pro WTS, sitting at the top of the range and the Crossmax Elite WTS, mid / high range. Both will be available in stores starting in mid-April in both 27.5″ & 29″ versions. For all wheelsets you can choose the Boost option, to satisfy compatibility with forks and frames currently in production. The WTS acronym stands for “Wheel Tire System”, stipulating that a set of tires is included with the wheels, which for both versions, Pro and Elite, is the Mavic Pulse Pro 2.1 or 2.25.
Both sets use tubeless rims with the same hookless shape on the rim and without a sealing hook shoulder to the tire. The rims have an inner width of 22mm and 25mm outside. In the case of the Crossmax Pro FSO, they are native Tubeless, while in the Crossmax Elite is Tubeless Ready and sealed with special tape.
The Crossmax Pro uses 24 bladed spokes in Zicral on each wheel.
The Crossmax Elite I also use 24 spokes, but a steel bladed version.
The Crossmax Pro WTS retails for € 1,000
The Crossmax Elite WTS is priced at € 600.
