Advanced Rim Defense (ARD) is the name that Nukeproof has given to its foam protection system for wheels and tires. Thanks to its particular shape it serves to dampen the blows that would hit rim when the tire “bottoms out”. The wings also allow the tires to be fitted without too much effort, and without zip ties and mallets.
Given the nature of the foam used, once under pressure the ARD is fixed to the rim and prevents the insert from moving in the rubber. Nukeproof has developed special valves to allow air to pass through and inflate the tire. They are included in the package.
