[Racing] La Bresse Qualifying – Gee Atherton Returns

The spotlight of the DH world is focused on La Bresse for the final round of the 2018 UCI DH World Cup season, where today, in unsavory weather conditions, the qualifying round saw the return of Gee Atherton, in first by 3 tenths over Amaury Pierron, who has already won the overall, thanks to points earned during the last stage in Mont-Sainte-Anne. Third position went to Remi Thirion who follows his countryman and team mate by just over 2 tenths of second. Brook MacDonald also closed this qualifying heat on the virtual podium with a fourth place finish, followed by Joe Smith.

It was an excellent showing from Tahnée Seagrave in the women’s field. The Brit scored a time of over 8 seconds faster than that of Rachel Atherton, emphasizing that with the final tomorrow, the fight for the title of “Winner of the 2018 UCI DH World Cup” is more open than ever. Third place for Tracey Hannah while the leader of the first half of the season, Myriam Nicole, landed in fourth place, followed by Katy Curd.

Kade Edwards cruised into the best time in the qualifying round for the Junior Men category, marking a substantial gap of more than 3 and a half seconds over Henry Kerr. Third place for Elliot Vallon while the circuit leader Thibaut Daprela closed out in fifth, in front of his main rival – Kye A’Herne.

Among the Junior Women, Valentina Höll continues to make her own category, with almost 30 seconds of separation between her and the next condtender.
