[Racing] Mont Sainte Anne Finals

In the heat and humidity of Northeastern Canada it was an incredible weekend.  In the men’s juniors Gaetan Vige, the French National Champion just barely edged out Finn Iles by a hair(.3 seconds) followed by Elliot Heap.

Tracy Hannah beat Tahnee Seagrave who stayed ahead of Canadian Miranda Miller putting Miller back in 5th after a solid 3rd place qualifier.  She’s still surely happy to be on the podium.  All things considered Tracy had an amazing result with 2nd place after a horrifying crash just two days ago.  Rachel Atherton would win by over 11 seconds to take her TWELFTH win in a row for a perfect season.

Loic took the hot seat with a 4:00 flat run and had an incredible return to racing with all out and flawless ride.  He would hold the top spot rider after rider.  For quite some time, Brannigan and Fairclough sat by his side.  Eventually Brook MacDonald bumped Brendog after he had a ROWDY run.  It wasn’t until Luca Shaw came through that anyone came close.  At 2.7 seconds back he jumped into second.  Loris Vergier would flat out dashing his chances of another podium.  Gee had a run that was less than stellar and slightly out of touch for the top 3, with Minnaar cruising down casually for a huge run.  Troy Brosnan jumped in behind Loic only to have Danny Hart throw down an epic run with the fastest time of the weekend by a hair.  Danny’s run was absolutely wild, ripping out the course tape and inside lining turns like a champ.  It was all down to Gwin who just couldn’t quite best Danny’s wild run….

Miranda Miller, probably not quite the fun she was looking for, but a hell of an effort for a racer who isn’t doing the full tour. 5th place for the Canadian National champ.
Manon didn’t quite match her effort in qualifying. 4th place and hungry for a win…it’s been some time now.
Tahnee Seagrave was persistent and had a solid run for 3rd place.
Tracy Hannah had a great run. It wasn’t enough to come within grasp of Rachel, but considering her horrific crash early in the event, second place is amazing.
Rachel won her 32nd win of her career today and is showing ZERO signs of slowing down. Today was her 12th win in a row as she heads for the elusive perfect season. She won by over 11 seconds.
Elliot Heap, 3rd in Junior men’s and looking like he’s going to have a bright future.
Finn Iles is leading the series but couldn’t pull off a win today. 2nd place but still showing incredible consistency for his age.
Gaetan Vige, French National champ took the win but the narrowest margin today.
Brannigan had quite a bit of time in the hot seat today.
Loic came storming down and set the stage. It seemed like hours until another rider would best his time.

Based off of how Brook MacDonald looked on track, you’d have thought he would’ve won. He was on the ragged edge the whole time. Amazing to watch.
Connor Fearon’s run was also super rowdy. He’s sitting in 5th overall now. Impressive.
Another sick one to watch, Sam Blenkinsop happy to be back in the top 10.
Brendog with 12th place. Solid result on an injured knee from a HUGE crash in qualifying. Heal up big dog!
Gee man, just out of the top 10 with 11th place. He hasn’t quite had the speed this year…
Mr. Consistent. The winningest World Cup DH’er of all time, Greg Minnaar just outside of the top 5.
Despite slapping the sickest scrubs on the mountain, it wasn’t quite enough to crack the top 3 and best Loic’s time. Troy Brosnan, 3rd place.
Danny Hart came bouncing down the hill with the most bonkers run, barely besting Aaron Gwin’s qualie time by just a few hundreths. Amazing racing.
It was all on Gwin.
With a few small mistakes, Gwin’s run was just fractions of a second slower than his qualifier and Danny’s time…
2 big wins in a row.
Such tight racing for these two.
Incredible comeback on Loic’s part. He’ll be even stronger at the next round for sure…
A big win for Gaetan Vige. The future is looking bright for France.
So good to see Miranda at more World Cups this year. Hopefully she’s on the full tour next year.
Unstoppable.

It’s looking tight going into the next round. With the spread between Danny and Gwin, the overall is up in the air. Exciting times for sure…
