Well…The big show is over, Rampage is the biggest, burliest and perhaps most talked about and televised event all year. Every year, riders get hurt, push boundaries, prop each other up, get in yelling matches and work their hands to the bone for the love of sport. MTB-MAG can’t possibly thank everyone enough – the riders, diggers, marshals, medics, organizers, fellow photogs and video guys…even the judges. We certainly wouldn’t want to judge an event like this. Follow along for the last day of madness.
In typical rampage fashion – wind was the biggest factor of the day.
Bubble boy R-dog was the first to blast down the hill.
R – Dog went big and was ultimately just happy to make the big show and finish in one piece.
Brendog charged his line with world cup speed.
Last year, Fairclough fully expected to flip the second of his THREE canyon gaps. This year he greased it. We’re still scratching our heads and wondering how Berrecloth’s run ousted his.
Jackson Goldstone. Eyeing lines with fire in his eyes.
Wannabe Jackson.
Remy Metallier was one of just two riders clipped in. He was charging super hard and did a huge no hander on the Red Bull canyon gap.
Bizet threw down a serious heater but crashed attempting a double backflip on the Razer jump.
Mitch Chubey had a MEAN entrance to a lethal gap high up on the hill. In both runs he bailed and didn’t hit the gap. In the second run, it was due to a front flat. Bummer.
Norbs threw down a solid run and proposed to his girlfriend at the bottom of his run then opted out of a second. Bigger things in life…
Sam Reynolds came out swinging at his first rampage. He stomped this flip in his second run.
Sam didn’t just throw some huge tricks in – he was on the smash. Big time.
Reynolds won best trick with this bad dog right here. In his second run he tried his signature running man and unfortunately crashed. Had he landed it, he would have placed way high.
Rheeder with a mean flat drop flip. In his second run he crashed on an attempted 360 off of a substantial drop.
Paul bas with a big one hander on the ridge.
Paul Bas got heli’d out after a massive gutwrenching crash. We’re sending a HUGE get well from us.
Bas VanSteenbergen. Rallying hard and clipped in. He didn’t do any huge tricks but rode with blistering speed and hit some huge drops and blasted a 65 foot gap jump.
Kyle Strait – dropping in.
Kyle Strait – no words.
Kyle blasting a huge no hander off of the big drop at the bottom. Just like last year – but without the win.
Tommy G send a solid run and by beating Rheeder he locked in the FMB overall Diamond Series.
Tommy G looking pretty Moto for a slopestyle cat.
Brandon Semenuk. Opposite flat drop 360. Ridiculous.
Zink had the same entrance as Strait and it was completely ridiculous. His 360 was the burliest thing anyone did on the whole mountain once again. He flat out got ROBBED.
Darren Berrecloth had a great run but didn’t spin or flip anything big. That usually will cost you some points but he was scored surprisingly high.
Sorge – ridgeline Suicide no hander.
Sorge has won before and he knows what the judges are looking for – a flawless comprehensive run. He put it together and scored highest on his first run.
The top drop for Andreu.
Aggy up top. MASSIVE
On the second run it all came down to this – wind. Andreu and Aggy had 30 minutes due to broadcasting constraints and incoming weather. Given how windy it was, they decided to opt out of a second run and their scores were based off of their first run while most everyone else was scored off of their best of two.
Big grins and a HUGE night ahead for Sorge.
This guy probably had a huge day.
ALL FEST PODIUM!!!!!
Every Rampage winner EVER. So cool to see everyone on stage.
A rainy ride home was not a surprising send off.
Fred from Vital and our buddy Cooper kept us company on the dusty and wet ride back.
Thanks for the ride home R – Dog. You’re the man. Congrats on your first crack at the big show. Ride or die!
Two tired, crusty dusty dudes and a whole lot of hammered, dirty photo equipment in front of their roach motel. Wrong watermark – Fred Robinson photo…we’re too tired to fix it.
Huge congrats to Sorge on the win. Bike check to follow.
