With the absence of athletes Sam Hill and Richie Rude due to travel restrictions due to Covid, the French had an easy game laid out for them on the trails of Pietra Ligure, an hour’s drive from the Italian border with their country. In fact, seven French racers finished in the top ten, with some exceptions from New Zealand and Canadian:
The first Italian was Marcello Pesenti, in 17th, followed three positions further back by Mirco Vendemmia. Matteo Raimondi’s 26th place was also not bad.
The same situation remained amongst women, with all of the top 5 hailing from France.
