For our next “Road to Rampage” feature, we’re touching base with freeride legend himself, Darren “Claw” Berrecloth. The B.C. rider has attended year after year and has taken some of the ballsiest lines on the hill. This year he’s looking to push himself just a bit further if the wind cooperates. Here’s what he had to say about 2017.
MTB-Mag: What are some big changes you make to your bike for Rampage?
Claw: I tend to shorten the rear end on my Canyon Sender and then I stiffen up my suspension a bit. Nothing major.
MTB-Mag: Do you have any major changes of kit or your protective wear?
Claw: I started running a thin back protector recently and man it definitely came in handy in the U.K.
MTB-Mag: Are you changing anything major in your line? If so what are you changing?
Claw: No, I got screwed by the wind on my line last year, so I didn’t feel I really nailed it. I’m pumped to spice it up a bit and shred it super hard.
MTB-Mag: What’s your biggest fear or concern this year?
Claw: Wind as always, LOL. Always an issue out ther.
MTB-Mag: Do you have any goals for your line or your result? Any tricks you want to do?
Claw: No result or particular goal. I just want to get all the tricks down that I want to nail.
