Today Santa Cruz announced an updated Heckler modeled after the original, only now with the new Shimano EP8 motor, but the bigger news is that they’re also launching a mixed wheel size 29″/27.5″ version with a bit less travel at 140mm, dubbed the MX.
The big story with the new motor is its lower weight (380 grams lighter), decreased drag (by 50%), lower volume (10% smaller) and increased power (85 Nm vs 70 Nm). Like the standard updated Heckler, it continues to use the Shimano STEPS motor.
The Heckler EP8 just sees the new…you guessed it – EP8 Motor which provides the aforementioned decrease weight, drag, and volume while adding power. Aside from that, the travel and wheelsize remain the same.
