MORGAN HILL, Calif., March 5th, 2019 — The Specialized Foundation announced today 15 new athlete ambassadors who will represent The Specialized Foundation during the 2019 season.
The Specialized Foundation is committed to introducing students to cycling’s positive effects on academic performance, health, and social success. The 2019 ambassador program aims to utilize a team of diverse and relatable cyclists to increase awareness about The Specialized Foundation, and ultimately get more kids excited about bikes through both in-person and digital interactions.
“We are thrilled about the opportunity to work with our new ambassador team and we look forward to introducing positive role models and mentors to today’s youth,” said David Wood, Specialized Foundation Program Director. “Our program aims to provide both aspirational and inspirational motivation for young riders.”
The Specialized Foundation ambassador team will consist of sponsored riders spanning all cycling disciplines. Ambassadors will often be found championing custom Specialized Foundation jerseys during training sessions and group rides, as well as during race course previews and warm ups. Ambassadors will team up with their local communities to visit middle schools, host rides, and utilize their public voice to promote youth cycling through the Riding for Focus school program.
“Bikes have provided me an outlet to express myself, and I have been able to achieve more than I ever could have dreamed of, both academically and athletically. I am so proud to be a part of The Specialized Foundation and I look forward to sharing the positive habits I’ve learned to promote a lifelong love for cycling and education,” said Alison Tetrick, Specialized Foundation Ambassador.
“My bike means a lot of different things to me. There are times it’s given me the chance to challenge myself, times where it’s led me to best friends, and times where it’s allowed me to explore the world. What I appreciate most is the simplicity the pedal strokes bring. I couldn’t be more excited to inspire kids to find that feeling for themselves,” said Christopher Blevins, Specialized Foundation Ambassador.
