[Tested] Bold Unplugged: the bike with the hidden shock

Bold is a young Swiss brand, famous for their frames with the rear shock hidden in the frame where the down tube intersects with the seat tube.

The Unplugged is their Enduro oriented bike, with 164mm of rear travel and 29-inch wheels, and clearance for 27.5+. In the video (English subtitles available) we walk through our test, as well as highlight the details of one of the most unique bikes on the market.

The price of the bike in test, which features a full carbon frame, is 6.168 CHF. It can be configured and purchased directly on the Bold website.

The weight we detected without pedals: 14.33 kg.

Geometry

Here the rear shock is hidden.
Once the cover has been removed, you can access the shock and its adjustments
To adjust the sag there is an indicator on the left side of the linkage.
To cool the shock, Bold has created air intakes on the head tube…
…and on the seat tube.
The geometry is adjustable thanks to the flip chips in the pivot point of the chainstays…
…and an eccentric set of headset cups made by Newmen.
Massive links, in addition to a very stiff full carbon frame
The details are well thought out, like the integrated chain guide…
… and the protection between the rear end and the front triangle.
The test bike was configured with the new DT Swiss F535 Fork…
…The DT Fork has its adjustment knobs hidden by two metal covers.
The remote handlebar control manages both the fork and the rear shock’s lock outs.
For all the other details, but above all to know how it rides, watch the video!
