The new Giant Trance & Anthem

[ad3]

Giant just showed off their bread and butter trail and XC bikes : the Trance and Anthem.  We’ll be heading to an event in Canada to spend some time aboard them at the end of July, but for now, here are the details.

Trance Advanced

The first thing you notice is the new carbon link between the rear triangle and shock absorber, and the new lower link in the bottom bracket area. Giant has also changed/improved the leverage ratio and increased the efficiency of the kinematics under load from both pedaling and braking .

As far as geometry is concerned, the horizontal tube is 10mm longer than in the past, while the bottom bracket is lowered by 5mm and the seat stays are 5mm shorter. All in all, a more modern geometry set, combined with 140mm of rear travel and 150mm front.

Details

• 27.5-inch wheel specific geometry optimizes control, acceleration and stability • New trunnion mount shock improves suspension performance

• Downtube protection.

• Boost 15×110 fork/hub spacing, 12X148 rear wheel spacing • ISCG-05 • Internal cable routing  • Giant’s house brand dropper post • The cable actuated lever for Giant’s dropper post

Anthem Andvanced

Even the full XC Giant rig has undergone major changes.  Many are similar to those of the Trance.  A new carbon fiber link, trunnion style shock out back(metric) and an improved leverage ratio.

The head tube angle has opened up and been slackened by 0.5 °, the seat stays are shorter by 5mm, while the rear travel is 110mm out back and 120mm up front.

Details

• 27.5-inch wheel specific geometry optimizes control, acceleration and stability • Internal dropper post routing

• Integrated downtube and chainstay protection prevents damage from trail debris • Boost 15×110 [F], 12X148 [R] hub spacing improves stiffness, trail handling and tire clearance

The Anthem SX hints at trail riding , with a 130mm fork and thus an even more slack steering angle . This is the geometry set :   [ad12]
