GoPro just dropped 3 major announcements today and wearable cameras just keep getting better and better.
The Hero 5 has voice control, a two-inch touchscreen and is water resistant to 10 m even without the case.
You can shoot video in 4K at 30fps (with advanced image stabilization) or take pictures at 12 Mp in single shot mode, sequence or time-lapse.
Photo enthusiasts will be pleased to know that photos can now be exported in RAW format, so they lose as little as possible in terms of information before and during editing operations.
Go Pro have also developed an option called WDR Wide Dynamic Range. This mode allows you to capture more detail in the shadows and extreme highlights in the scene. You can still use the touch screen to control exposure, and ISO sensitivity.
The audio is stereo: There are three microphones that even allow an advanced wind noise removal.
The camera is GPS enabled to record the location in which they are filming videos and taking pictures.
There is also a compact version of the Black Hero 5, the Hero 5 Session.
Also can shoot in 4K at 30fps and take pictures at a slightly lower resolution than the Hero 5 Black, 10 MP. A really cool feature with the Session Black Hero 5 is the voice command to take photos or start capturing video. Other features in common with the Black Hero 5 are stereo sound (but with two microphones instead of 3) and water resistance to 10 m without the need for a waterproof case.
The GoPro Hero 5 will be available from October 2 at the price of 429 € while the Hero 5 Session will arrive on October 3 at 329 €.
In addition to the two cameras, GoPro also has the Karma drone.
It is a combination of a gimbal and a drone. The stabilizer can be removed from the drone and mounted on a handle, which in turn can be applied to the shoulder straps of the backpack / housing of the drone.
The best way to understand how the new drone/stabilizer works is to just watch the vid below :
The drone has a maximum speed of 15m / s (54km / h), it can fly out to a maximum distance of 1000m and a height of 450mm. It weighs 1kg.
Karma will cost 869€, but availability is not yet specified.
