The Santa Cruz Megatower V2

Today Santa Cruz is announcing their second version of the Megatower – their long travel Enduro bike. While it features updated geometry and suspension, the bike also picks up downtube storage – a first for the brand as well as a travel bump and a host of other new features. Read on for the full scoop…

Details

  • 29″ front and rear wheels
  • Adjustable geometry
  • 170mm front travel / 165mm rear travel (can be bumped to 170mm with shock stroke increase)
  • Integrated “Glovebox” downtube storage
  • Size specific chainstays
  • VPP Suspension – new lower leverage rate with linear curve
  • Air or coil rear shock options
  • 5 sizes: S, M, L, XL, XXL
  • Threaded BB
  • Post mount: 200mm
  • Lifetime warranty

The big story here is “Glovebox” the first downtube storage option from Santa Cruz. The bike ships with a “Tool Wallet” and “Tube Purse”.

The new Megatower has a linear rate of progression, which allows it to work nicely with both air or coil rear shocks – and it’s available with both. This change in approach is similar to what we saw on the Bronson, and found it to be excellent.

Internal, sleeved cable routing, plus Santa Cruz’s in house 35mm rise carbon fiber handlebar, as standard.

The Megatower V2 is offered in both C and CC frame options, which vary in price and weight.

Another couple of interesting aspects on the rear suspension is that, again like the Bronson, the Megatower has a substantially lower leverage rate. The bike ships with a 62.5mm stroke shock, but a bump to 65mm gives it roughly 170mm of travel.
