Transition Introduces the Spire – Big Wheels Long Travel

[Press Release] – Take on the biggest terrain without the penalty, long travel doesn’t have to mean single purpose. The Spire blends DH bike capability with mid-travel efficiency in such a way it’s almost two bikes in one. A delicately tuned pedaling and pumping platform, super supple beginning stroke sensitivity and all the travel you could ask for makes for a mind bending ride. Happily climb up to your favorite challenging descent, then cruise on over to your local flow trail and you’ll be rewarded on both ends of the spectrum. Don’t be fooled though, while it’s no one-trick pony the Spire lives to push your limits. Get in-Spired.

Spire complete bikes come equipped with suspension from Fox, RockShox or Marzocchi to take the biggest of hits. Powerful four piston brakes with big rotors front and rear help keep you in control. Schwalbe Magic Mary and Big Betty Super Trail tires offer you great cornering traction and braking performance in a variety of conditions. All build levels and sizes include 165mm cranks, a OneUp dropper post and a OneUp bash guide to ensure nothing holds you back.

The Spire is available in both carbon and alloy options. The Spire carbon features a full carbon frame made from premium Japanese Toray fiber with a tailored blend of 24T and 30T materials to create the right balance of frame stiffness, strength, and impact toughness. Our unique latex coated EPS molding process allows for sharper frame lines and tighter edge radius control with maximum strength to weight ratio and less wasted material. The Spire alloy features a frame made from tough and dependable 6061 aluminum to strike the right balance of frame strength, durability and ride quality.

All frames see protection on downtube, chainstay and seatstay. SM, MD and LG sizes share 446mm chainstay lengths and XL and XXL share 452mm chainstay lengths. All frames are equipped with a geo adjust chip at the lower shock mount for high and low geometry settings, and 56mm/56mm press in headset cups that are compatible with reach adjust headsets when used with a dual crown fork. All frames are compatible with 27.5 rear wheels in the high geo adjust position.

With nearly 23% progression and the most current evolution of our GiddyUp suspension kinematic, the Spire has an excellent balance of support and small bump sensitivity. Anti-squat is tuned to enhance pedaling performance and provides a platform to push against when pumping, without sacrificing a bottomless feel when needed.

The GiddyUp suspension layout is tuned to work correctly with both air and coil rear shocks. Riders are able to add or remove volume spacers in the rear air shock to suit their individual riding style and there is plenty of bottom out control with air or coil shocks when things get rowdy. The Spire has 170mm of rear wheel travel when used with the supplied 205mm x 65mm stroke shock. It is also possible to install a shorter, 205mm x 60mm stroke shock to decrease the rear wheel travel to 160mm if you are after a shorter travel experience.

A suggested sag range of 27 – 33% allows the rider to tune the feel of the bike; from a firm and snappy jump and slash mode, to a more supple and active full on party mode. Wherever you end up, you can focus on the trail without remotes, levers or knobs. Just grab your bike and GiddyUp.
