[Video] 9 Positive Trends from 2022 in MTB

After looking back and taking stock of how things went in 2022 in the mountain bike world, I started jotting down some general trends and patterns which I think have all been really good developments – largely from a design and approach standpoint. While there are still looming supply chain issues, product shortages and high prices, it’s never been a better time to be a mountain biker. The bikes of today are simply incredible machines and they’re constantly getting better.

Have a look at the video above and feel free to sound off if you think there’s anything that was left out…

  1. More dedicated mullet bikes
  2. Hydraulic bottom out control in non-boutique suspension
  3. Shock kinematics that play nice with both air and coil
  4. Improved air spring designs, which help facilitate #3
  5. Affordable aluminum bikes with flagship features
  6. Broader size ranges
  7. Size specific chainstays
  8. High pivots
  9. Less anti-squat
