This week Brook Macdonald, Finn Iles and Loïc Bruni are all in Queenstown preparing for Crankworx Rotorua, where they’ll be racing the downhill events in preparation for the start of the UCI World Cup in Lourdes on April 30.
While in town they took some time out from training and were kind enough to give up an afternoon for their Trial the Trails ride day with local riders at Skyline Bike Park.
Around 30 riders had an amazing experience riding with some of the world’s best downhillers on their local trails. Skyline was gracious enough to close off its Bubba track, and a timing system was installed so the crew could post and improve on times with the help of their pro coaches.
The locals had four hours of time trials, section by section tips, advice and line selection, all in a quest to improve their technique and speed. Matt Jones even joined in the session later to show how to shred with some style.
