WTB Shows off New, Aggressive Tires & TSC 2.0 Rims

MILL VALLEY, CALIFORNIA – July 5, 2018 – WTB has introduced new aggressive mountain tires that feature all-new TriTec Compound, as well as introduced a new line of TCS 2.0 rims and accessories that improve upon its already renowned TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) technology. WTB now offers additional widths and updated tread patterns with the Vigilante 2.5/2.6 and Trail Boss 2.4/2.6 tires, while the Judge 2.4 is a rear-focused tire designed for aggressive enduro and gravity riding. All-new KOM Light and KOM Tough rims with TCS 2.0 technology provide a more robust tubeless system that is easier to mount and even more reliable than before.

Completely new to the WTB line, the chunky knobs of the Judge 2.4 tire are designed to provide utmost traction for aggressive enduro and gravity riding in loose and rocky conditions. As a longstanding combo in the WTB line, the Vigilante and Trail Boss tread patterns have been optimized around wide (i29) rims with a high-volume casing and a redesigned tire profile that provides tread overhang to protect the tire from sidewall punctures.

All of WTB’s new mountain tires feature TriTec Compound, which utilizes three rubber compounds to provide different levels of traction, support and durability based on their placement within the tread. The entire tread pattern is supported by a base of high durometer rubber, which also transitions halfway into the height of the knobs and allows for the use of softer knob compounds without the tire folding due to cornering forces. The top of the center knobs consist of a medium durometer compound to provide traction and durability without sacrificing rolling efficiency, while the outer knobs feature the softest compound to deliver maximum grip and slow rebound. All TCS Light versions of the new WTB tires feature Slash Guard technology, which incorporates a protective nylon insert spanning the entire sidewall to provide extra protection without the weight of a dual ply casing.

TCS 2.0 improves upon the most trusted name in tubeless with a better-sealed system that focuses on the junctions between the tire, rim and tubeless tape. A recessed channel along the center of TCS 2.0 rims allows for installation of the all-new Solid Strip, which prevents tubeless tape from sagging at the spoke holes and results in a smooth, consistent interface between the tire and rim. KOM Light and KOM Tough rims having an inner rim width of 40mm or 45mm also benefit from our new Dropzone design, which is a downward slope from the bead seat to the center of the rim that allows the tire bead to quickly fall into the optimal area for easier tire removal.

Available in different TCS levels that reflect their intended usage, these new WTB mountain tire offerings are available with MSRPs ranging from $67.95 to $79.95 USD. All new TCS 2.0 rims, both KOM Light and KOM Tough, are available with MSRPs ranging from $105 to $110. The new tires are currently available at wtb.com, while the new TCS 2.0 rims will be available in August.

About TCS and TCS 2.0

WTB’s proprietary sealant tubeless system, TCS (Tubeless Compatible System,) revolutionized rims and tires in 2009 when combining ETRTO, ISO, and UST standards with lightweight tubeless rotational weights. Never before had a standards-based tubeless system weighed so little. Now with the introduction of TCS 2.0, our Tubeless Compatible System continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible through purpose-built tires and rims tailor-made for every discipline of cycling.
